"A Wet but Wonderful Day: The 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament"

Despite a day filled with rain, laughter, and camaraderie, the 13th annual Charity Golf Tournament, co-hosted by the Ladysmith and Chemainus Rotary Clubs, was a resounding success. With 116 enthusiastic players, delicious food, and an array of exciting activities, this event not only showcased the spirit of giving but also proved that a little rain couldn't dampen the spirits of those who came together to make a difference.

The tournament featured a scramble format, encouraging teamwork and creating a level playing field for golfers of all skill levels. While the rain may have added an extra layer of complexity to the game, it didn't dampen the competitive spirit.
After an exciting day of golf, it was Doug Doherty, Laurie Broadhurst, and their talented sons, Mitchell and Austin, who emerged victorious as the winning team. Their exceptional teamwork and golf skills propelled them to the top of the leaderboard.
Aside from the main competition, there were various other contests and prizes to keep the excitement levels high throughout the day. Prizes were awarded to the first, second, and third-place teams. Additionally, there were special prizes for the ladies KP (closest to the pin) and the men's KP. In a stroke of luck, one golfer's shot was so precise that it resulted in a hole-in-one, a moment of pure golfing magic. This extraordinary feat will be remembered for years to come.
Other entertaining contests included the closest to the wiggly line, the lost ball guess, the lucky draw, sponsor recognition contest winner, and a random draw from player's cards. These activities kept everyone engaged and added an extra layer of excitement to the event.
The day was kickstarted with a delicious array of muffins, baked goods and coffee. At the end of the day's challenges, everyone was treated to a mouthwatering lunch provided by "Canteen on the Green." The delicious meal received rave reviews from all attendees.
Both a lively live auction and a silent auction were held, featuring a wide array of items generously donated by sponsors and supporters. The auctions provided a fantastic opportunity for participants to contribute to the charitable cause while walking away with some fantastic prizes.
The landscape of the golf course was adorned with signage from 27-hole sponsors, meal sponsors, green sponsors, and putting green sponsors. Furthermore, 42 carts were sponsored by generous donors and club members, highlighting the overwhelming support for the event and its noble cause.
Despite the golfing talent on display, the sponsored hole-in-one contest on hole #11 remained elusive, with no golfer managing to achieve the remarkable feat. Nevertheless, the spirit of sportsmanship prevailed as everyone enjoyed the challenge.
This remarkable event marked the 13th consecutive year of the Charity Golf Tournament co-hosted by the Ladysmith and Chemainus Rotary Clubs. Over the years, this tournament has not only provided golfers with a memorable day on the green but also made a significant impact on the community by raising funds for charitable causes.
The 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament may have been a day filled with unexpected rain, but it was also a day filled with warmth, laughter, and a shared commitment to making the world a better place. The success of this event underscores the power of community and the unwavering dedication of the Ladysmith and Chemainus Rotary Clubs to creating positive change. As the golfers dispersed, they did so with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that their day of fun and competition had a far-reaching and lasting impact on those in need.
