The Rotary Club of Ladysmith successfully completed 2 community service projects for Stz’uminus First Nations families.

The Rotary .club of Ladysmith completed two successful community service projects with Stz’uminus First Nations on Saturday, October 5th. These are the first projects that the Rotary Club has completed for Stz’uminus First Nation families.

Project #1 saw 7 Rotarians in 5 vehicles along with the homeowner’s son, help make a dent in the clean up and removal of garbage and recycling that had accumulated on a senior’s property after he had suffered from a stroke. With his recovery in progress, the owner’s son will continue the clean-up and eventually convert the area to a vegetable garden. Best wishes!

Project #2 saw Bill Hutchinson design and build with the help of others a small deck and stairs so that the homeowner and her family have access outside from their second storey front door. Formerly, their only access was through the basement door at the back of the house. The grateful owner indicated that they hadn’t had access since she had become widowed 9 years ago. Rotary was happy to help out this family who expressed heartfelt thanks. Huy ch q’u Rotary.
